Uluslararası İlişkiler is pleased to announce a special issue on “Political economy of crises in global, regional, and Turkish context”

Crisis is probably the most common term used to depict the rising volatility and uncertainty in our times. The term is particularly relevant in understanding the dynamics of the global, regional as well as Turkish political economy often plagued by sources of instability ranging from finance to migration, from environment to health. This special issue invites contributions that analyze the political economy of these crises and how these crises affect Turkey’s political economy.

We welcome papers that specifically explore the dynamics of these various crises and how the critical junctures rooted in major global/regional crises have shaped the political economy of Turkey as well as its citizens. We are particularly interested in contributions that utilize the theoretical and interdisciplinary strengths of the political economy approach using a wide range of variables, including, but not limited to, institutions, interests, and ideas, in exploring these crises at different levels. We are also interested in papers zooming on various crises in Turkey’s political economy and how they interact with regional and global dynamics.

The manuscripts should be between 6000- 8000 words and in full compliance with the author guidelines indicated on the journal website (https://uidergisi.com.tr/style-guidelines).

Abstracts of approximately 300 words should be sent directly to the guest editors, Mine Eder (eder@boun.edu.tr), Umut Aydın (uaydin@uc.cl), and Tuğba Bozçağa (tugba.bozcaga@kcl.ac.uk) by March 30, 2022. Authors of selected abstracts will be notified by April 30, 2022.

The deadline for final paper submissions will be 30 July 2022. Submitted papers will undergo a rigorous, double-blind peer review process.

The special issue is scheduled for publication in December 2023.
